Carl R. Meathrell Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carl R. Meathrell, Jr (Bo) passed away peacefully after midnight on January 27, 2022 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parent, Carl R (Sr) and Emma G. (Bunner) Meathrell. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Peggy. Also, his daughter, Amy Jo and son, Chuck with wife, Jessica. He has five grandsons, Jordan and Scott Weekley and Davis, Owen and Everett Meathrell. He loved his grandsons more than life itself. Bo was raised in the Stealey area of Clarksburg and spent wonderful summers on the family farm in Berea, WV with his grandfather and great aunts. He attended WI High School in Clarksburg where football, under the loving and firm guidance of Coach Al Castellana, taught him values like hard work and honesty. In the absence of his own long pasted father, this was formative for him and he retained a life-long bond with “Coach”. Bo was a dedicated police officer in Salem, WV for 36 years, a number of which he served as captain or chief of police. He loved his town and its people. He loved to ride his motorcycle and teasing his family and friends. He told the best “dad jokes”. He would have been 75 on January 31st. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be conducted in the Salem Seventh Day Baptist Church on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be streamed at www.facebook.com/salemsdbchurch/. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1:30 until time of service. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Meathrell family.
