Christine Ayars Sias Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Christine Ayars Sias, 69, of Salem departed this life on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 22, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Frederick Monroe and Virginia Bivins Ayars. On June 1, 1974 she married Fred Sias who survives. Also surviving are one son, Walter Joshua Sias and wife Jessica, Doddridge County, two daughters, Julie Sias Richmond and husband John, Salem, Jackie Sias Long and husband Aaron, St Petersburg, FL, 11 grandchildren, Ella Sias, Nora Sias, Carter Sias, Marley Sias, Emerson Sias, Holden Sias, Alexis Richmond, Rylan Richmond, Aubrey Richmond, Harrison Long, Harper Long. One sister, Barbara Ann Sakamoto and husband Tom, Norristown, PA, one brother, David Frederick Ayars, Levittown, PA. Mrs. Sias received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Salem College. She had been employed by United Summit Center where she had worked as a Geriatric Specialist. Christine was retired from the W.V. Division of Rehabilitation, Clarksburg, where she has been a Disability Examiner with 17 years of service. She was a member of the Salem Seventh Day Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess and a member of the Stephens Minister team. She was a woman of strong faith and was someone well respected. . Chris had a love for crafts, camping, photography, flower gardening, and card making. She also enjoyed traveling nearby as well as abroad, when possible. She was heavily involved in the church where she was in choir, chime choir, served as a secretary to deacons for 14 years, was a sabbath school teacher, church clerk, pre-camp director, and a member of the SDB Appalachian Executive Council. She loved to focus on youth where she revived the Kid's Night Out program as well as initiated an event to teach young adults how to cook. In college, she was active in Delta Zeta Chi sorority and loved staying in touch with her sorority sisters. She was also active in the Humanics Student Association, Sigma Pi Little Sisters, the Phi-Ettes, and being of service to others. A memorial service will be conducted in the Salem Seventh Day Baptist Church on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 6:00 pm with Pastor Dale Thorngate and Pastor Brent Hannah presiding. There will be a time of gathering one hour prior to the service.
