Homer L. Ford, 93 of Salem (Big Issac Community) departed this life on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in the United Hospital Center. He was born on May 18, 1921 at Big Battle a son of the late Jesse C. and Eska P. Hutson Ford. Twice married he was preceded in death by his first wife Edna L. McClain Ford and his second wife Juanita Bell Ford. Surviving is one son Michael L. Ford and wife Tammy, Salem, one step daughter, Kathy Bell, Ashtabula, OH, three step sons, Kenny Bell, Ashtabula,OH Kelly Bell, Houston, TX, Chris Bell, Baltimore, MD. grandchildren, Joshua M. Ford, Tyler W. Ford, Kylie M. Ford, and four step grandchildren, four sisters, Burnetta Hoskinson, Salem, Marjorie Overstreet, Austin, TX, Udora Keys, Bunkerhill, WV Velora Howerton, Annapolis, MD, one brother, Okey Ford, Richmond, VA several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Forrest Glenn Ford, Jesse Ford, two sisters, Pauline Ash and Maxine "Mackie" Ford preceded him in death. Mr. Ford was retired from Union Carbide as a laborer with 35 years service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII. Homer was past president of the Doddridge County Senior Citizens. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed attending the Salem Apple Butter Festival. Homer was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00AM with Pastor Danny Fleming officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell with full military honors being accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church C/O Mary Dolly 186 Liberty St. Salem, WV 26426.
