Joseph Franklin Snider Jr., 76 of Salem departed this life on Sunday October 13, 2019 at his residence. He was born on May 7, 1943 in Grafton a son of the late Joseph Snider Sr. and Mary Poe Snider. Surviving are two sons, Jason Snider and fiancé Lisa Mendendez, Clarksburg, Garrett Snider-Hunyadi, Lowell, MA, one sister, Carol Snider, McHenry, MD, two nephews, Joshua Snider and wife Erin, Philippi, Sean Snider, Charleston, brother-in-law, Samuel Goots, Columbia, SC, two great nieces, Jessica Coffman and Ashley Snider, his adopted son, Willie Beverlin and fiancé Gloria, Clarksburg. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Goots and Sharon Snider. Mr. Snider was a graduate of Bristol High School and received his BA and BS degrees from Salem College and then received his Masters Degree from West Virginia University. Joe retired from the State of West Virginia working for the Department of Health and Human Recourses as an Adult & Child Protective Services for Harrison & Doddridge Counties with over 35 years service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy. Joe enjoyed fishing, and was an avid sports fan following the W.V U. Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. Joe took great pride being a member of the "Old Men's Club" of Fairview Diner "Tee Hee". Graveside services will be conducted in Bluemont Cemetery, Grafton on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Hinerman presiding.
