Obituary-Salem-Linzsay R."Peanut" Deems, 78, of Pike Fork Rd. Salem departed this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. He was born in West Union on February 23, 1944. He was preceeded in death by his mother Pauline Owens Deems Miller and his foster parents, Ursel and Vonda Bond. Surviving are one brother, James Deems, Clarksburg, two sisters, Polly Costilow, Weirton, and Nellie Leasure, Elizabeth, WV. He was preceeded in death by three brothers, John, Charles and Alvin Deems, one sister, Betty Sue Cox, Hundred, WV. "Peanut" was retired from Glaspell Lumber as an Edger Operator with 40 year's service. He was U.S. Army Veteran. "Peanut" enjoyed riding his side by side, sitting on his porch watching traffic and enjoyed his humming birds. " Peanut" had a multitude of friends and neighbors that cared for him. Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tom Zimmerman presiding. Interment will be in Peterson Cemetery, Oil Creek, Lewis County. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.harbertfuneralhome.com.
