Obituary-Salem-Mary Jo Hickman, 70, of Hickman Rd. Salem, departed this life on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Weston on February 14, 1951 a daughter of the late John and Esther Pope Gonzalez. On October 18, 1979 she married Thomas "Tommy" Hickman who preceded her in death on September 1, 2019. Surviving are two daughters, Jessica Bartley and husband Mike, Salem, Samantha Davis and husband Quintin, Salem, one son, Travis Hickman and fiancé Kayla Kirk, Salem, three grandchildren, Castle Fox and girlfriend Katalia Trimmer who was very special to Mary Jo, Levi Fox and Collin Davis, two sisters, Carol Clark and husband Joe, New Martinsville, Janice Wooddell, Good, Hope. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Patty Jordan. Mary Jo was a 1969 graduate of Bristol High School. She had worked for Garden Fresh Supermarket for eleven years. Mary Jo retired from the Harrison County Board of Education as a cook with 20 years. She enjoyed traveling and going to the beach, however cooking, baking and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed her fur babies, "Dozer, Lugnut, Lilly,Tucker and Alli". Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jon Hayes presiding. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, February 17, 2022 after 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
