Terrance Mitchell Shaffer, 74, of Salem (Buckeye Community), W.Va. departed this life on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center, Clarksburg, W.Va. He was born in Doddridge County, W.Va. on June 15, 1947, a son of the late Cecil "Whitey" Shaffer and Garnet Knight Shaffer. His wife, Barbara McKinney Shaffer survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Shellie Shaffer and Angie Camp, both of Salem; a special son-in-law, Charlie Camp of Weirton; one son, Jamie Shaffer of Salem; grandchildren, Brandi Elliott, Jordan McClain (Cody), Ottie Myer, Isaac Owens, Brandon Carder, Maddy Shaffer, Katie Shaffer and Alex Jasovsky; great-grandchildren, Kaydence and Rowan Ash and Chandler McClain; sisters, Retha Jolley (Greg) of Salem, Charlotte Johnson (Mike) of Warren, Ohio, Jackie Strother (Leon) of Clarksburg and Judy Wilson (Jerry) of Salem; brothers, Ronnie Shaffer of Jarvisville, Kenny Shaffer (Jeannie) of Clarksburg and Randall "Butch" Shaffer (Thelma) of Jane Lew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Shaffer; and six sisters, Betty Robinson, Dorothy Norman, Jessie Nicholas, Connie Forinash, Leota Ash and Shirley Davis. Mr. Shaffer was a retired Mechanic/Painter and auto body repairman. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Terry was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman. He was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, WV Mountaineers and Doddridge Bulldogs. Terry loved spoiling his grandkids and great-grandkids. Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Denver Burnside presiding. Interment will follow in the Randolph Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 4-8 p.m.
